Murals & Interiors

My favorite artistic experience is doing what I call my "Intuitive Art". These pieces come to me via a source outside of myself, often with information attached. Sometimes I will have an image in my mind for months, just waiting for me to express it. Other times, it is an immediate expression of an energy that flows through me.

These pieces are personal and emotional for me, and often are the first step along a path of a kind of treasure hunt. Generally I choose not to research the information I recieve, instead I wait for the answer to surface as if by magic. The less I interfere with the process the better, so I don't want to cloud the pure with conscious information.

I have been doing a series of these drawings with a Native American focus for many years. I have an affinity for the predicament of the attempted ellimation of the Native American cultures by the influx of European religious and social belief systems. These images flow right through me, as if I am to tell the stories in pictorial form.

This piece came to me as an image I had to draw. Often, works with meaning beyond my conscious awareness flow through me. This one is part of a series I have done on the effect of the influence of Christianity on the Native Americans, whose connection to nature is all-powerful.

The shadow coming out the door of the mission is that of a Native American, being instructed in a religious belief other than their own ancestral teachings - hence the title, Nature Conquers All.

The snake, and the turquoise of the area within it, represent the deeply rooted spiritual connection and powerful energy of Mother Earth.
